General
- What is LEADpiper exactly?
- It's an online utility for distributing sales leads according to sales territories and market
specializations. It can collect and aggregate leads from different sources, find qualified people
for them
based on the territories and markets they cover, send leads to the recipients that are chosen, and
keep records of all transactions.
- Can LEADpiper automatically gather leads for me from different sources?
- Yes. You can arrange to have leads come automatically into your LEADpiper account, using an
easy direct POST from your existing web-based form (no programming required), or by a simple
REST-style API call. We can also provide scheduled, automated download of leads from popular lead-gen
portals, via the vendor-supplied API. We currently support automated download from GlobalSpec and Salesforce.com,
with more vendors to come. Tell us what you'd like to see.
- What is the general process for lead distribution in LEADpiper?
- LEADpiper will systematically compute and find qualified recipients for leads that are in
the "distribution queue". You the user will be able to review the results and make desired
adjustments before sending them out.
- How will people get the leads I send them?
- Leads are distributed by email. Optionally, your recipients can
import a lead into their Salesforce.com account or OppTuna CRM with a single click.
- How much does LEADpiper cost?
- It depends on how much you use it. There are no monthly subscription
fees, user fees, or monthly minimums. You pay when you actually send a lead out to someone.
It costs $1 each for the first 500 leads in a month, and 25 cents per lead over 500 leads
in the same month.
- Can I try LEADpiper? For free?
- Yes. Actually every new LEADpiper user gets a free trial. Just open an account and you will
find a bunch of free credits in it, so you can distribute your first 100 leads for free.
You will have access to the full feature set so you can get familiar with it, and at
the same time get some real work done. When you decide to keep it, you won’t miss a beat
because you will have continued use of all the data and rules that you have implemented along
the way.
- Does LEADpiper do other things with a lead, like tracking sales milestones?
- No, those functions are usually handled in a CRM system. LEADpiper can be used
to funnel lead data into a CRM or distribute leads from a CRM. LEADpiper includes several
features for integrating with CRM systems including Salesforce.com and OppTuna.

Account Questions
- What happens if I make a mistake sending leads to the wrong person(s)?
Will I be able to get credited for charges on the errant distributions?
- To allow for the the type of honest mistake we all make at times, we allow you to
send any lead out a second time without additional charges. Just put the lead in
question back in the distribution queue and resend it.

- Credit card or Paypal. Higher volume customers may also apply to
establish direct credit with us, if you'd prefer direct monthly billing.
- How many credits can I buy each time?
- You can purchase credits in any amount that fits your need.
- How will I know when I need to buy more credits?
- Your current credit balance is shown at all times when you're logged
in to LEADpiper. If you try to
distribute more leads than your credit balanace can cover, we'll give you
a chance to buy more.
- Can I get refund for my unused credits?
- No. Please make your purchase based on how much you plan to use LEADpiper.

Configuration and Setup
- How much effort is involved in setting up LEADpiper to work the way I want?
- In most cases you can be productive within minutes or hours. The biggest factor is
probably the distribution rules you use. Sophisticated rules will take a little more work to
set up, at the same time they can also offer bigger opportunities for process automation and
consequently larger rewards for LEADpiper users.
- What do I need to do to set up my distribution rules in LEADpiper?
- First decide if your distribution is based on geography, or other market considerations
like product specializations, or both. Based on that, create the territories and markets you
need, and then pick the people you want to have each territory and market covered. For each
territory add the areas it includes. For each market, tell the system what to look for in a
lead to determine if it belongs to that market.
- What are other main areas for set up?
- Contacts and lead-gen sources are the other main areas of set up:
- Either import or enter in the contacts you plan to send leads to, and assign
them to the territories and markets you want to have covered.
- Make a list of the lead-gen forms you want to have connected to LEADpiper,
and send the simple how-to instructions to the parties who maintains these
forms for you. It's pretty simple. They should be able to take care of the rest
without much trouble.
- How can I get my contacts into LEADpiper?
- We provide easy to use import functions for Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, Salesforce.com, and generic spreadsheets.

Usage Questions
- What is the difference between territories and markets?
- Territories are used to divide sales responsibilities or coverage by geographical areas.
In LEADpiper a territory is defined by the areas it includes, using countries, states, zip codes,
etc. Markets are used to distinguish sales coverage along non-geographical boundaries such as
product specializations.
- What are examples of the use of markets for lead distribution?
- A company can organize its sales force by vertical markets such as healthcare,
education, government, financial, etc.; or by product lines such as printers, scanners,
desktops, laptops, displays, etc. Once it's determined which market a lead is for,
LEADpiper can systematically locate qualified contacts for it.
- How will LEADpiper determine what market a lead belongs to?
- It tells that by the rules specified by its user. Specifically it looks to see if
particular pieces of data in the lead matches the rules for each market.
For example, a rule for the "audio" market can check if the customer's interest field
contains the word "music" or "speaker" or "audio".
- How will LEADpiper work with a CRM?
- You can use LEADpiper to distribute leads from your CRM to users that don't have user accounts
in your CRM. Also, if your recipients have their own CRM systems, they can import leads
you send them from LEADpiper directly into their CRM accounts. LEADpiper currently
supports Salesforce.com as a lead source, and supports Salesforce.com and OppTuna
integration for lead recipients.
- How can LEADpiper get leads from my Salesforce.com account?
- You can authorize LEADpiper to periodically query your Salesforce account and
download all leads assigned to a specified Salesforce.com "queue" or contact into
LEADpiper for distribution.
More info here.
- How can I send leads to my contact's Salesforce.com or OppTuna account?
- You don't need to do anything different than usual! The email the recipient receives when
you send them a lead includes a link to set up integration with their CRM, and once
they've set it up, every new lead will include a link to import the lead into their CRM account.
More info here.
- Can I define my territories and markets within the context of my leads?
- Yes, from the distribution screen. You can right-click on the lead details and quickly add territories,
markets, and mapping rules. See the support wiki for more details.
